Giuseppe Licari was born in Erice, Italy, in 1980. Sicily, his native place, is often a source of inspiration. He uses different materials with particular reference to nature and in relation to the built environment. The public, invited to participate, share, experience and interact, creating a collective memory, is the central point of his work. He defines the public participation as the engine of his artworks. His work is an open-ended process of exploration of human perception and how it can be triggered through discrete or bold interventions, firmly linked to site and time specific experiences. He studied Painting at the Academy of fine Arts in Bologna and Monumental Art at AKI Enschede, The Netherlands. Since 2007 he lives and works in Rotterdam.
