Chess Food Game – Made in 4 Havens – HAKA Building – Rotterdam
15th of December 2012 – Rotterdam
The idea of food power is used in embargoes, employment, and food politics of which is an integral part. It is the use of agriculture as a means of political control. Imminent food shortages are typically a localized problem, but because the food system is so interconnected, local problems now affect the global community.
During Chess Food Game the participants had to introduce themselves in relation to a food product that makes them feeling powerful and potent. After the presentation, they were divided in two groups, one red and one green, to create the two sets of figures for the giant chess board. The vegetable figures were later placed on the table and used for the final match between the two groups. Every time a player was winning the adversary, could eat the collected figure and have part of his or her dinner.
