31st of May 2012 – Secret Gardens – The Willow Wind – Tent Rotterdam
L’Albero della Cuccagna was first known as the May Tree. Its origins are in the Celtic areas and it was celebrated as symbol of abundance and fertility for the new season. Around it there was the feast that as all popular and religious feasts had at the center food. The Germans were celebrating the tree and its Gods offering bread on the sacred tree.
Around the May Tree there were the celebrations, from archaic origin in the agrarian civilizations, of the summer and of the winter solstice, as it remains for different religious celebration with the Christmas tree.
Tent Rotterdam invited Spaghetti Forever to Celebrate Willie Stehouwer, curator of Tent, in a long program full with music, videos and special surprises under the title The Willow Wind and subtitle Una Donna Particolare. Closing the celebration was L’Albero della Cuccagna from which the public could harvest Italian culinary specialties in a sort of a pagan interactive celebration for an unusual dinner. The harvested products were shared with everyone on the table.
